MEPS-HC HPB Abstraction Named as a 2021 FedHealthIT Innovation

FedHealthIT published its list of 7th Annual FedHealthIT Innovation Award winners. Among those named was SoftDev’s prime effort for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey – Household Component Health Policy Booklet (MEPS-HC HPB) Abstraction contract. The FedHealth IT Innovation award recognizes and honors the Federal Health technology and consulting community by celebrating programs nominated and selected by their peers for driving innovation and results across the Department of Veterans Affairs, Military Health, Health and Human Services, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

After a 20+yr wait, this program quickly (<14 months) delivered a highly usable, robust and accurate database of information contained in Health Policy Booklets gathered nationally. The database enables AHRQ to gain insights relevant to the health care choices available to all Americans and the costs associated therein, providing value across health-oriented federal and state programs as they shape policy decisions going forward. Furthermore, as a result of this work, AHRQ has a heightened understanding of the potential for use of cognitive services for automation and data services within its and other agencies’ IT portfolios. The tool developed by SoftDev and its success was also featured at the recent 2021 FedCASIC event sponsored by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau. SoftDev’s CMS Alignment of Quality Reporting Programs and Websites (AQPRPW) prime effort was also named on the 2021 Awardee list. This was the second such award for that program. The 2021 FedHealthIT Innovation awards received by SoftDev represent the fourth and fifth such award to SoftDev in three years. SoftDev was recognized in 2018 and 2020 for innovation delivered on the following programs:  CMS / CROWN Data Discrepancy Support (2 awards) and CMS / Alignment of the Quality and Public Reporting Programs and Websites (1 previous award).

SoftDev congratulates all FedHealthIT Innovation Award winners. For a full list of awardees, visit https://www.fedhealthit.com/2021/05/2021-fedhealthit-innovation-award-winners-announced/.
